Harvey, Illinois
The Harvey Initiative is a community-led nonprofit working to revitalize neighborhoods, engage youth, and create real opportunity across all 6 wards of Harvey, Illinois.
The Reality
Harvey has experienced decades of disinvestment — vacant properties, aging infrastructure, limited youth programming, and shrinking economic opportunity. These aren't abstract problems. They're what our neighbors live with every day.
Sustainable change starts with organized community action. Not politics. Not promises. Real people doing real work, block by block, program by program.
The Harvey Initiative exists because residents deserve a structured, accountable organization fighting for their quality of life — and because we believe Harvey's best days are still ahead.

About Us
The Harvey Initiative is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by residents who believe Harvey's best days are ahead. We exist to improve the quality of life for our neighbors by addressing the real challenges our community faces — housing, food, youth opportunity, economic development, and civic voice.
Our approach is ward-by-ward and block-by-block. Starting in the 6th Ward, we're building a replicable model of community revitalization that we'll expand across all of Harvey.
Our vision: A Harvey where every ward has safe housing, engaged youth, accessible food, maintained parks, and residents who have real power in local decisions.
"Harvey Initiative exists to improve the quality of life for residents of Harvey, Illinois — through housing revitalization, food security, youth engagement, and community advocacy."
